2008 BATTLE AT THE BEACH 9

 

GRAPPLING RETURNS TO WILDWOOD!
 Looking for a fun vacation this summer?  This will be the 9th year the NAGA has brought the “Battle of the Beach” Submission Tournament to Wildwood, New Jersey.  With such tremendous turnouts, we have expanded the event into two days and it will feature 300 gi and no-gi divisions at the brand new Wildwood Convention Center.  Saturday will be the ADULT gi & no-gi competition and Sunday will be the CHILDREN and TEENS gi & no-gi competitions.  For those of you who have never been to Wildwood, it is one of the hottest summer spots in New Jersey, with a huge boardwalk, amusement parks, shops, and plenty of beach.  Make it a great weekend with your family or friends and come to compete!

WILDWOOD CONVENTION CENTER

The Battle at the Beach is being held at the brand new, 7000 seat Wildwood Convention Center.  The state-of-the-art facility is fully AIR CONDITIONED, right on the boardwalk, and all seating is stadium style and fully cushioned.   We have the OCEAN VIEW side on the Arena which means that the entire half of the venue is solid glass with nothing but sand, ocean and the breeze on our own private 10,000 square foot ocean front deck.

 

ADULT GI & NO-GI SATURDAY, KIDS/TEENS SUNDAY
Due to the large amount of competitors this tournament attracts each year, we have expanded the tournament into two days.  All adults (both gi and no-gi) will compete on Saturday, all children and teens (gi & no-gi) will compete on Sunday.  This will allow each day’s event to finish at a reasonable time.

SAMURAI SWORDS to all 1st Place Winners
The NAGA will be handing out custom engraved SAMURAI SWORDS to ALL 1st Place Winners!   All 2nd & 3rd Place winners will receive Octagon Medals! 

WEIGH-INS and REGISTRATION OPTIONS
 Competitors will have the option to weigh-in on Friday evening, or weigh-in and register on the day you compete any time after 8 AM.  This means you can weigh-in and compete in both gi & no-gi competition all in one day.  You are not required to weigh-in on Friday, but the option is available to you.  Friday weigh-ins will take place from 5 PM to 8 PM at the venue.

.RANKED EVENT
All NAGA events are part of the nationwide ranking system entitled RANKED. Our goal is to determine who the best grapplers in the country are for various age, gender, and skill levels.  Battle at the Beach will be nationally ranked so do not miss your opportunity to gain points towards a true national title.

MMA EVENT ON SATURDAY NIGHT
Whether you just like watching mixed martial arts or want to compete in it, here is your chance.  Saturday night after the Adult grappling competition has ended we will be holding our 2nd annual amateur MMA event entitled Reality Fighting at the Wildwood Convention Center.  Check out 15 exciting mixed martial arts fights that night.  Tickets are available on our website or the night of the fights at the door.  If you would like to fight in the amateur event contact Joe Cuff at 860-295-0403 or email him at jcuff@nagafighter.com.
