NAGA’S LARGEST EVENT- EXPANDS INTO A TWO DAY TOURNAMENT
This will be the 5th year the NAGA has brought the “Battle of the Beach” Submission Tournament to Wildwood, New Jersey. Last year’s event attracted over 1,000 competitors making it the largest single day event in the US for No-Gi & Gi competition! With such a tremendous turnout, we have expanded the event into two days! SATURDAY we will hold all the ADULT NO-GI Competition. SUNDAY will be all the CHILDREN, TEENS and ADULT GI Competition. For those of you who have never been to Wildwood, it is one of the hottest summer spots in New Jersey with a huge boardwalk, amusement parks, shops and plenty of beach. Make it a great weekend with your family or friends and come to compete!
WILDWOOD CONVENTION CENTER
We went all out renting out the brand new, 7000 seat Wildwood Convention Center. The state-of-the-art facility is fully AIR CONDITIONED and right on the boardwalk. No sitting on bleachers at this show, all seats are new, fully cushioned, stadium seats so even our spectators will enjoy the day in comfort! We have the OCEAN VIEW side on the Arena which means that the entire half of the venue is solid glass with nothing but sand, ocean and the breeze on our own private 10,000 foot ocean front deck.
REMOVE SUBMISSIONS FOR THE BEGINNER KIDS
(Ages 14 & Under)
The NAGA and the sport of submission grappling are growing at a phenomenal
rate. We want to attract as many new grapplers to the sport and our
competitions as possible, especially the children. We feel there are many
kids that would like to compete however the submission component may be a
little too much for them at this early stage of grappling competition. All
NAGA events with Children NO-Gi & Gi Beginner Divisions will be with “No
Submission Points”. Kids that want to compete in submission matches can
fight in the Intermediate or Advanced Kids Divisions as they have in the
past. Beginner Children Gi & No-Gi Division Points will still be awarded
for Take Downs, Guard Passes, Sweeps and Positioning. We hope this helps
ease the nervousness that accompanies competition. Children Beginner
Divisions will be 3 Minutes in length. Every match will go the entire 3
minutes. The winner of the match will be determined by who has more points
at the end. We want everyone, especially the kids to have a good time at
our events. We hope this helps bring more young grapplers into our sport.
We will also be removing NECK CRANKS in the Kids & Teens Divisions. Teen
Beginners ages 15 through 17 years old will still be allowed to apply
submissions.
OVER 170 GI & NO-GI DIVISIONS
This event
has grown so large that we have increased the number of divisions to 170!
This is the largest event we have ever had, more grapplers, more divisions,
more awards than all or competitors combined! EARLIER START TIME FOR ALL
COMPETITIORS. Doors will open at 8 AM, Rules meeting at 10:00 AM – First
Matches are at 11 AM Sharp both Saturday & Sunday. Adult Experts, Women,
Masters, Executive and Directors please arrive before 9:30. These No-Gi
Divisions will start at 11AM Sharp! Please arrive early if you are in these
divisions! As with all NAGA events, we will work from Expert to Novice in
order also helps prevent sandbagging.
