NAGA Updates for 2025

October 17, 2024
Naga - North American Grappling Association

As 2024 winds down, NAGA has been preparing for our 2025 season. We have made multiple updates to our events that we feel will be well received by our competitors.

2 MATCH BRACKETS FOR ALL COMPETITORS

  • 2-Person Divisions: Best 2-out-of-3
  • 3-Person Divisions: Round Robin
  • 4-Person + Divisions:  4 or more competitors will now have a 3rd place bracket for those who lose a match enabling them to compete again at no extra cost

NAGA has received feedback and one thing competitors typically want are more matches. These new bracket types will make sure each competitor has a chance at two matches per division (barring injury, opponent withdrawal, etc.) so they can gain that valuable experience on the mats.

We have received inquiries into what the tiebreakers would be in a 3-person bracket if all are tied 1-1 after their matches. This is the order of how ties will be broken:

  1. Number of wins by submission – If only one competitor won by submission then they would win the division.
  2. Head to Head – If you and the person you subbed both won by submission, and the other person in the bracket did not win by submission (they won by points), you would win the division.
  3. Sum of match scores (total number of points you scored in your two matches)
  4. Sum of all opponent’s scores (the number of points scored against you, lower is better)
  5. Head to Head (if two are tied with the same number of points scored for and against, then whoever won between them will win the division).
