We often get asked, how can I work a NAGA tournament other than being a referee? The answer is rather simple, contact us and let us know which tournament (or even tournaments) you want to work. Some locations we go to, we do not have a local contact (more on that in a few) who helps to staff the tournament. When this is the case (or in some cases, the local contact cannot fully staff the tournament), we put out the word on social media, typically in the Facebook event page for that tournament, that workers are needed. A phone number and email address are provided for you to contact us and lock in your spot. If you see a tournament coming up and want to work it, you can email us at [email protected]. If we have a spot, we will get you on the roster. When emailing us, please put in the subject line, Interested in Working NAGA {insert tournament name here}.
Some important details to consider when signing up to work:
- You cannot work if you are competing. We cannot staff your spot while you are away warming up and competing.
- As of this writing, pay is $15/hr., paid by check at the end of the tournament.
- Lunch, snacks and beverages are provided.
- Workers are typically needed from 9:00 AM until the end of the tournament on tournament day. Sometimes earlier start times and the opportunity to work on Friday (setting up) are options.
- The opportunity to trade work at set up to compete is currently not an option.
- Workers typically are needed to be scorekeepers using the Smoothcomp system. Basic computer skills are needed. A staff member will teach you how to use Smoothcomp at the tournament.
- Being involved in the sport is not necessary but if you are, these are the best seats in the house!
As was previously mentioned, we have local contacts who can help staff tournaments in their area. These staff coordinators may need to be able to provide 6-15 workers. Some areas we are looking to have staff coordinators are: Myrtle Beach, Cincinnati, Utah, Chicago, Wisconsin, New Orleans, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Virginia, Washington, and Oregon. If you are interested in doing this and not from one of these areas, still contact us and we can let you know the status for that area.
To contact us, please email [email protected] or call 860-295-0403. It is important that you put in the subject line, Interested in Becoming a Staff Coordinator. We will provide further details and set you up if you decide to join us.
We look forward to meeting you and having you be a part of our staff.
